Join XSOLIS In Providing Financial Support To Students Making A Career Change

Nashville’s tech economy and the demand for talent to grow our tech workforce is at an all time high. But how do we ensure that Nashvillians and Middle Tennesseans are not left behind in the growth of our tech economy?

For eleven years, Nashville Software School (NSS), a 501c3 nonprofit, has been home-growing job-ready junior professionals to meet local demand for tech talent—most of our students reside in, and get their first jobs in, Nashville. We recruit motivated, high potential adults, 18 years and older, and give them access to immersive, intensive training in the skills required to launch a career in one of four tech career pathways.

The majority of our students are underemployed, unemployed, and/or financially disadvantaged prior to enrolling at NSS. We also are intentional about identifying and enrolling adults who are members of groups traditionally underrepresented in tech careers – including women, Black and Hispanic people, and veterans – more than 50% of the students enrolled in our program are from these demographics. We quite literally increase the diversity in Nashville’s technology workforce with every graduation.

We provide financial support to over half of our students, almost entirely self-funded from our operating cash flow. For the approximately 45% of our students that receive a full Opportunity Tuition seat, we require only 12.5% of NSS tuition before class starts and cover the remainder with scholarships and deferred repayment until a student graduates and is successfully placed in their first tech job. This program has been a game changer for people who are looking to enter tech careers and support from companies like XSOLIS help us in these efforts.

Now you can support us in this endeavor through our Build A Scholarship program.

Build A Scholarship

Providing scholarship is our highest priority. We provide financial support in the form of scholarships and interest-free shared-risk deferred tuition plans (our Opportunity Tuition program). Historically, approximately 45% of students have received full Opportunity Tuition support with another 10% receiving partial scholarships. We have self-funded (from operating cash flow) the vast majority of such support over the past eleven years - now we are opening the opportunity for our community partners to supplement and extend our capacity.

We can tailor these scholarships to fit your contribution and organization's goals. Options include:

Opportunity Scholarships

Each Opportunity Tuition student receives a scholarship equal to approximately 20% of the full cost of their tuition, e.g. data analytics students receive  $1,500 scholarships, web development students  $2,500 scholarships. A $25,000 contribution could cover opportunity scholarships for 10 web development students who are financially disadvantaged and/or from underrepresented groups.

Deferred tuition scholarships

Every Opportunity Tuition student has the majority of their program tuition deferred until they successfully graduate from NSS and secure their first job using the skills acquired at NSS - if those two conditions are not met, NSS forgives the student’s deferred tuition. Deferred tuition scholarships are a new class of scholarship designed to reduce the future repayment required from Opportunity Tuition graduates. These scholarships can range from $500 to the full deferred tuition amount. Deferred tuition today ranges from $5,375 for data analytics to $9,125 for web development and data science. We can allocate contributions in multiple ways to satisfy your requirements and goals. You can read more about how XSOLIS built their scholarship to support a Software Engineering student on our blog.

Non-Opportunity Scholarships

We extend partial scholarships in amounts ranging from $1,500 to $6,000 to students who are unable to secure a full Opportunity Tuition seat yet have financial need, possibly combined with being a member of an underrepresented group. Every dollar donated for this class of scholarship allows us to extend our support to more students.
